Well, 2023 has certainly been another busy year so far and a year which has offered up lots of really enjoyable and exciting experiences. In terms of performance, earlier on in the year, I was contacted over at Voice of the Town by the producers of ‘The Joe Marler Podcast’ to ask if I would be able to supply a ‘house band’ for their upcoming live UK tour of the England & Harlequin’s Rugby player’s successful show. But, they wanted something with a twist! Yes, it wasn’t just about musical segues: they were after jingles, full songs and even a cappella snippets of famous TV tunes for a TV Theme Tune quiz, which saw audience members get up on stage and go head-to-head. And, what a BLAST it was.
In regard to voice training and vocal coaching, it’s been a really fantastic year in which I’ve had the pleasure of working with a whole variety of people who are looking to develop their voices. From professional and beginner vocalists, singer-songwriters, Musical Theatre performers (and those currently studying towards it), to singing teachers and voice coaches as well as voice-over artists and numerous academics who are keen to hone their vocal delivery. It’s been exciting and varied to work with so many different voices and contrasting styles and practices I’ve also had the pleasure recently of leading vocal workshops at Newcastle University for the new cohort of academics ahead of them delivering lectures and seminars. With a particular emphasis on how to main the health, stamina and strength of the voice as well as how to vary the delivery for an even more engaging presentation, it was lovely to work with that kind of group and I look forward to doing so again in January 2024. With my singing lessons and voice coaching continuing to span Newcastle/North East of England and Central Scotland, allied to working internationally with a number of clients, much of my teaching now takes place online, though with the opportunity of in-person sessions when and where possible.
If you’re looking to develop your voice, whether for singing or the speaking voice, or if you have a particular objective or task that you would like/need to work towards, feel free to contact me and I’ll be more than happy to discuss how we can progress things further. Comments are closed.
